I think for me, I main k rool whos hardly the most complex character in the world, and when the game clicked for me and I actually started winning games, was when I started playing some other characters for a while, I learned byleth, plant and pac-man and then when I got back to k rool I was suddenly way better, whilst Im sure youve done this due to how many hour you have I think its a good idea to diversify your play to learn all aspects of the game.
